Dr. Minoo Varzegar received her High School Diploma from North Hollywood High School, Los Angeles, California, USA. Later, she received her B.A. in English, M.A. in Linguistics, M.A. in Psychology, M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language and Ph.D. in Teaching English as a Second Language (Psycholinguistics) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and did her postdoctoral in Teaching English as a Second Language (Psycholinguistic Aspects of Reading and Writing) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA.
She was the Chair of the English Department for 14 years, President of the Association of Professors of English in Iran for five years, Director of the Center for Psychometrics and Testing for two years, and Director of the Language Center for two years and MELAB (Michigan English Language Battery Test) Examiner for nine years.
She was a Member of the Editorial Board of ACTAMEDICAIRANICA, Journal of Foreign Languages, Journal of Human Sciences, Advisory Board of American Biographical Institute, Managing Editorial Board and Advisory Board of the PCF Who's who in the Iranian-American Community.
Dr. Varzegar has published 33 volumes of books and textbooks on language, linguistics, grammar, reading, and writing and 57 articles and monographs on linguistics, psycholinguistics, reading, writing and literature. She has also presented 90 papers in national and international conferences and has conducted 27 research projects.
She holds the Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Education, Who's Who of American Women, Two Thousand Intellectuals in the World, Strathmore's Who's Who, Distinguished Professor, Distinguished Researcher and Scholar, Woman of Achievement of the Year 2002, and Contemporary Women in the World Awards. She has won a prize for her Theoretical Models of Reading.
She has taught at the University of Tehran, University of Illinois, William Paterson University, Columbia University and currently she was a full-time faculty and MLL and Placement Coordinator of the Writing Program at the English Department at Rutgers University. Currently, she is the Director of the Program in American Language Studies/ESL at Rutgers University-Newark and the IELTS administrator of the PALS-Rutgers IELTS Center (US 379 Center).
